Double blind peer review methods are employed to maintain standards of quality, improve performance, and provide credibility. We believe that peer review is more relevant than ever as the system for evaluating the quality, validity, and relevance of scholarly research.  All manuscripts submitted to "Environ Stresses Crop Sci" journal must be original contributions, and must not be under consideration for publication with another journal, nor have been previously published, in part or whole. Peer review, also known as refereeing, is a collaborative process that allows manuscripts submitted to a journal to be evaluated and commented upon by independent experts within the same field of research. The evaluation and critique generated from peer review provides authors with feedback to improve their work and, critically, allows the editor to assess the paper’s suitability for publication in the journal. The peer-review process does receive much criticism and is not without its limitations; however, it remains a widely recognized standard in terms of journal quality. The editor ultimately decides whether to accept or reject the article. The editor will weigh all views and may call for a third opinion or ask the author for a revised paper before making a decision.

The steps from submitting to acceptance/rejection of an article are briefly as follows:

  1. After preparing the article according to the Journal’s format (Guide for Author), the author must first register in the journal and then after login, the author can submit the manuscript along with the required files.
  2. In the preliminary check, the managing editor checks the article to ensure that all the required files are submitted, there is no plagiarism, the manuscript format is correct, etc. If the manuscript needs revisions, it would be returned to the author and if approved, it will be assigned to the technical editor of the journal.
  3. All the manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Environmental Stresses in Crop Sciences are carefully checked by the technical editor of the journal in terms of data validity and accuracy of the statistical analysis. The manuscript will be rejected if there are big mistakes. In case of minor problems, the manuscript is sent back to the corresponding author for revision. Finally, after the approving by technical editor, the manuscript is submitted to the editor-in-chief.
  4. After receiving the article along with the technical editor's comments, the editor-in-chief reviews the manuscript in terms of scientific quality, innovation and compatibility with the journal's aims and scopes. If the editor does not approve, the manuscript will be rejected and returned back to the authors. If approved, the article will be sent to the editorial board members.
  5. The editorial board, while carefully reviewing the article, sends its opinion regarding the quality of the article and rejecting/accepting it along with the names of the proposed referees (if the article is approved) to the editor-in-chief. If the majority of members confirm the quality of the manuscript, it will be sent to at least 3 referees.
  6. After receiving and reviewing the opinions of the referees, the article is either rejected or sent to the corresponding author to correct and revise the manuscript.
  7. Once the revised article is submitted by the corresponding author, the article will be assign to the final referee for ultimate confirmation, provided that the initial approval of the corrections has been done by the editor-in-chief. Based on the final reviewer's opinion and the final decision of the editor-in-chief and editorial board, the revisions may not be approved at all (rejection of the article), the article may be returned to the author for further revision, or the corrections may be approved (final approval).
  8. Approved articles will be sent to the author to pay the initial reviewing fee, after which, author(s) will receive a preliminary scientific acceptance letter.
  9. After the scientific acceptance, the manuscript is sent to the executive office of the journal for editing and page layout. After that, the manuscript is sent to the corresponding author to fix editing problems and approve the gallery proof.
  10. Following the final approval by the corresponding author and payment of the publication fee, the final review before publication is done by the editor-in-chief and then the article is published online.
